AIRCRAFT GEARBOX TEST SYSTEM

  • CUSTOMER:
  • It is the policy of OMNI Engineering Services Inc. not to disclose customer names and/or proprietary details of projects without the client’s release to do so.

  • PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Design a test system that will control/monitor and log 8 pressures, 8 temperatures, 2 - 460V 3 phase generator waveforms, 2 tachometers, 4 vibration transducers and miscellaneous control. They wanted the system extremely expandable for new test scenarios that they may want to test with this DAQ system.

  • DESIGN APPROACH:
  • One of the main issues was the expandability and portable issues. These were solved by using a custom interface panel with quick disconnects to allow the system to be moved to other equipment that may have a completely different set of test requirements. The project's software was developed using Labview. Some of the more interesting aspects of the software included an Excel report engine, FFT for the HZ signals and the use of the sound, SCXI bus and vibration toolset. Labview was a good choice and allowed custom reporting, logging and full automated testing with one button.

  • PROJECT RESULTS:
  • The customer especially likes how easy the system is to use. The customer also liked the fact that we can deliver a turnkey system and support them in the future. Reliability accuracy and the expandability we designed in and will surely allow us future opportunities with this customer.

  • PROJECT BUILDING BLOCKS:
  • SCXI chassis with 8 channels of simultaneous sampling analog input, 8 channels of differential programmable analog input for pressure, 8 channels differential programmable analog input for thermocouples.
    DAQ Board 333K samples/sec 32 IO, 16AI, 2 counters, 2 AO
    Custom Rack enclosure with circuits and power for all the sensors, with quick connects for all signals.
    Portable and robust rack mount enclosure with computer, printer, 18" flat screen and all data acquisition hardware.
    Labview Full Development system with office interface and the sound and vibration toolset.
