It is the policy of OMNI Engineering Services Inc. not to disclose customer names and/or proprietary details of projects without the client's release to do so.

The customer requested a new system that would enable their personnel to monitor and assign patients to exam rooms. The system must be able to be changed at the room and at a remote location, downloading the information to a central controlling industrial PC. The system must be able to run up to 50 exam rooms off of 1 PC, not loose any information during a power failure and be able to translate data of wait times, codes, etc to a data log and output to another program. The system needs to be easy to learn and maintain.

The system was designed using a remote I/O system. We utilized Allen Bradley Industrial PC's with RIO scanner cards and RSView software, an industry standard SCADA package for seamless integration of control and data aspects of the system.
After the initial remote I/O system was up and running, we upgraded the system to a DeviceNet operation. The new design allowed for a more cost effective, cleaner and versatile system.

Our customer is very pleased with the outcome of this new system. They are able to view the status of all the exam rooms on their floor. They can change the status of the rooms via a panel outside of the room or by the main Industrial PC located in a central location. They are able to keep track of the amount of time the patient is in the room, when the caregiver arrives and how long the caregiver is with the patient. This system also allows for integration of a read only display to other personnel via their own desk top PC.
