1/16 DIN TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER

  • CUSTOMER:
  • It is the policy of OMNI Engineering Services Inc. not to disclose customer names and/or proprietary details of projects without the client’s release to do so.

  • PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Design a 1/16 DIN single loop temperature controller with multiple I/O options, having a power supply which can be sourced by an AC voltage from 85VAC to 250 VAC. This controller should also be capable of being programmed to provide a temperature profile.

  • DESIGN APPROACH:
  • An eight bit CMOS microcontroller was selected to be the heart of this embedded system. The project’s software was developed using the "C" language. Because of the size requirements, an extensive effort was required to optimize the code and feature set to allow the software to fit in the memory space allowed. A switching power supply was designed to accommodate the source voltage requirements. A custom keypad using dome switches was designed, as well as, an LED display.

  • PROJECT RESULTS:
  • The project was very successful. It is a leader in capabilities and quality in the DIN marketplace. It is competing very successfully with foreign competition
