It is the policy of OMNI Engineering Services Inc. not to disclose customer names and/or proprietary details of projects without the client’s release to do so.

Provide a software package that will acquire parameters from Watlow 945 series controllers via the RS422 serial port and display the parameters on a PC. Also be able to graph parameters on the PC screen, chart parameters on a printer and log parameters to a file. Finally, be able to select a particular control existing in the serial daisy chain and give it new parametric settings.

It was decided to design this product so that it could reside on a very low level PC, in order to provide a low cost solution to data acquisition of multiple processes. An interrupt driven serial communications routine was developed in assembly and "C" to provide fast access to the data without disturbance of the user/screen functions. The product was developed using pull-down and pip-up menus along with data windows and help screens. The entire product was written in "C" with only the interrupt sections having assembly language usage.

The product provides communication with 8 Watlow 945’s and shows two parameters each on the screen of the PC. The user can select which parameters he wishes to see on the screen, as well as which ones to chart, graph, or log. The product is inexpensive, attractive and easy to use.
